Walk-through of Proposed Dog Park Site

Hello!  

EXCITING NEWS AS WE ARE ONE STEP CLOSER TO GETTING A DOG PARK IN THE MOREAU REC PARK …HOOORAY!  

Members of the Dog Park Committee walked through a potential site this evening with the Park Commissioner, Bob Vittengl. It was a great, collaborative meeting!  It’s an accessible site – close to bathrooms and other fields – but far enough away to be private.  We discussed parking and access to walking trails. We discussed ideas for clearing the area, which we feel is very doable relative to the young growth on the site. We discussed potential resources to help us clear the area – BOCES (whose program has helped with the clearing of other sites in the park), McGregor Correctional, Boy Scouts, high school kids and philanthropic organizations. We discussed the future possibility of running water and how the park might grow into a beautiful facility for our communities. Bob will present this to the Park Commission and with their approval will present to the Town Board for approval.  

BUT NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP BECAUSE THE MOREAU D.O.G. CLUB AND VOLUNTEERS NEED TO DO ALL THE WORK AND THE FUNDRAISING!  

Many of you have offered to volunteer your help…and the time is NOW!  We are so close to making this happen. We even discussed the possibility of having this in place by this time next year!  

1. ATTEND THE UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS
   1. Comic Hypnotist – Michael Ray – Moreau Community Center ,  6/14 (this Saturday!)7pm, $7
   2. Pooch Pics for a Dog Park – Twilight Studios, S. Glens Falls , 6/20-21

                                                             i.      $25 gets pictures of your pooch! – 1-5x7, 1-3x5 and 2-wallets

                                                           ii.      Dongo’s will have pooch scarves for sale with a cute little logo on them for your pooch to wear supporting the dog park

2. ATTEND THE VOLUNTEER MEETING ON 6/19 AT 6PM AT THE MOREAU TOWN HALL
   1. Bring your energy, commitment and ideas
   2. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of available jobs – big and small!
   3. Officer positions available
   4. Administrative help needed
3. POST POSTERS THROUGH OUT THE COMMUNITIES – See attached

   1. Ask/email all your friends!
5. Resources and donations needed
   1. Moreau D.O.G. Club memberships
   2. Organizational donations
   3. Fencing
   4. Clearing of land
   5. Printing and promotions

You have all indicated your support of having a dog park, but we need YOUR ACTIVE SUPPORT to make it happen! Please consider helping out…even if you make one phone call…hang one poster…attend one event…make a small donation…EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!  And please ask all your friends to do the same.
